A 400-Year-Old Craft, Reimagined for Modern Living
The Wagasa Hanabi Air Purifier brings together two worlds: the 400-year-old Edo-period Wagasa umbrella craft of Nakatsu, Oita Prefecture, and modern photocatalyst air purification technology.
Each lantern is handcrafted by master artisans using traditional split-bamboo frames and layered washi paper -- the same techniques used for centuries to make Japanese umbrellas. The result is a sculptural piece that cleans your air while casting warm, diffused light across your room.

Why Wagasa?
Nakatsu Wagasa is one of Japan's most endangered traditional crafts. Fewer than ten workshops still operate. Each Wagasa Hanabi purchased directly supports one of these workshops and helps keep this living tradition alive for the next generation.
